Beauty of Mathematics...Superb...

Beauty of Mathematics !!!!!!!

1 x 8 + 1 = 9
12 x 8 + 2 = 98
123 x 8 + 3 = 987
1234 x 8 + 4 = 9876
12345 x 8 + 5 = 98765
123456 x 8 + 6 = 987654
1234567 x 8 + 7 = 9876543
12345678 x 8 + 8 = 98765432
123456789 x 8 + 9 = 987654321

1 x 9 + 2 = 11
12 x 9 + 3 = 111
123 x 9 + 4 = 1111
1234 x 9 + 5 = 11111
12345 x 9 + 6 = 111111
123456 x 9 + 7 = 1111111
1234567 x 9 + 8 = 11111111
12345678 x 9 + 9 = 111111111
123456789 x 9 +10= 1111111111

9 x 9 + 7 = 88
98 x 9 + 6 = 888
987 x 9 + 5 = 8888
9876 x 9 + 4 = 88888
98765 x 9 + 3 = 888888
987654 x 9 + 2 = 8888888
9876543 x 9 + 1 = 88888888
98765432 x 9 + 0 = 888888888

Absolutely Brilliant, isn't it?

Now have look at this symmetry:

1 x 1 = 1
11 x 11 = 121
111 x 111 = 12321
1111 x 1111 = 1234321
11111 x 11111 = 123454321
111111 x 111111 = 12345654321
1111111 x 1111111 = 1234567654321
11111111 x 11111111 = 123456787654321
111111111 x 111111111 = 12345678987654321

Corporate Social Responsibility.....A fact which is not covered by MEDIA

There is a nice quote……….
"Success is not a Long jump nor a High jump ,its a Marathon of Steps"

Once a news reporter asked Mr. Ratan Tata as to why Tatas are not making as much money as Reliance. He was said to have replied, “We are industrialists, they are businessmen".

Let us all have a look why Mr. Ratan Tata said so….. we all are aware of the horrible incidents of 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks, which principally affected the Taj Group of Hotels. We know the facts and figures of helping hand from various sources to victims, for which of course media played an important role….
But…there are certain unconditional facts hidden….which was not covered by media…and we did not know..

Let the World know what is the actual "CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY".

THE TATA GESTURE: -

1. All category of employees including those who had completed even 1 day as casuals were treated on duty during the time the hotel was closed.
2. Relief and assistance to all those who were injured and killed.
3. The relief and assistance was extended to all those who died at the railway station, surroundings including the “Pav- Bha ji” vendor and the pan shop owners.
4. During the time the hotel was closed, the salaries were sent by money order.
5. A psychiatric cell was established in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences to counsel those who needed such help.
6. The thoughts and anxieties going on people’s mind was constantly tracked and where needed psychological help provided.
7. Employee outreach centers were opened where all help, food, water, sanitation, first aid and counseling was provided. 1600 employees were covered by this facility.
8. Every employee was assigned to one mentor and it was that person’s responsibility to act as a “single window” clearance for any help that the person required.
9. Ratan Tata personally visited the families of all the 80 employees who in some manner – either through injury or getting killed – were affected.
10. The dependents of the employees were flown from outside Mumbai to Mumbai and taken care off in terms of ensuring mental assurance and peace. They were all accommodated in Hotel President for 3 weeks.
11. Ratan Tata himself asked the families and dependents – as to what they wanted him to do.
12. In a record time of 20 days, a new trust was created by the Tatas for the purpose of relief of employees.
13. What is unique is that even the other people, the railway employees, the police staff, the pedestrians who had nothing to do with Tatas were covered by compensation. Each one of them was provided subsistence allowance of Rs. 10K per month for all these people for 6 months.
14. A 4 year old granddaughter of a vendor got 4 bullets in her and only one was removed in the Government hospital. She was taken to Bombay hospital and several lacs were spent by the Tatas on her to fully recover her.
15. New hand carts were provided to several vendors who lost their carts.
16. Tata will take responsibility of life education of 46 children of the victims of the terror.
17. This was the most trying period in the life of the organization. Senior managers including Ratan Tata were visiting funeral to funeral over the 3 days that were most horrible.
18. The settlement for every deceased member ranged from Rs. 36 to 85 lacs [One lakh rupees translates to approx 2200 US $ ] in addition to the following benefits:
  • Full last salary for life for the family and dependents.
  • Complete responsibility of education of children and dependents – anywhere in the world.
  • Full Medical facility for the whole family and dependents for rest of their life.
  • All loans and advances were waived off – irrespective of the amount.
  • Counselor for life for each person.
EPILOGUE: -

How was such passion created among the employees?
How and why did they behave the way they did?

The organization is clear that it is not something that someone can take credit for. It is not some training and development that created such behavior.
If someone suggests that – everyone laughs. It has to do with the DNA of the organization, with the way Tata culture exists and above all with the situation that prevailed that time.
The organization has always been telling that customers and guests are #1 priority.
The hotel business was started by Jamshedji Tata when he was insulted in one of the British hotels and not allowed to stay there.
He created several institutions which later became icons of progress, culture and modernity. IISc is one such institute. He was told by the rulers that time that he can acquire land for IISc to the extent he could fence the same. He could afford fencing only 400 acres.

When the HR function hesitatingly made a very rich proposal to Ratan – he said – do you think we are doing enough?
The whole approach was that the organization would spend several hundred crore in re-building the property – why not spend equally on the employees who gave their life?

"Navagraha Temples" Darshanam in Tamil Nadu

On 16th January 2011 (Sunday) I visited Navagraha Temples in Tamil Nadu.

Our Indian Astrology believes that the planetary positions of the nine planets in a geocentric orbit determine the way a person will live, progress and exemplify one’s life to others before death. The word “Navagraha” means “Nine Planets” (Nava = nine & graha = planet).

Each graha is represented by one temple each. All the nine temples are situated in Tamil Nadu with a close proximity of Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district.

Navagraha Temples are:
  1. Suriyanar Koil  temple represents God Surya (Sun)
  2. Thingalur temple represents God Chandra (Moon)
  3. Vaitheeswaran Koil  temple represents God Sevvai (Mars)
  4. Thiruvenkadu temple represents God Budhan (Mercury)
  5. Alangudi temple represents Lord Guru (Jupiter)
  6. Kanchanur temple represents Lord Sukkiran (Venus)
  7. Thirunallar temple represents Lord Shani (Saturn)
  8. Thirunageswaram temple represents Lord Raghu (Rahu)
  9. Keezha Perumpallam temple represents Lord Kedhu (Ketu)

One must start visiting Navagraha Temples from Suriyanar Koil. Suriyanar Koil is located near Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu. This temple was built by the Chola kings [Kulottunga Chola I (1075-1120)]. The Suriyanar temple faces west. The presiding deity here is Suryanarayana in a chariot like vimaanam, representing the sun's chariot.

Thingalur temple, a small temple here has a small shrine dedicated to Chandran in Sanskrit (Thingal in Tamil). Chandran is the planet that removes stress and sorrow.
Vaitheeswaran Koil is a special shrine dedicated to Lord Mars. It is situated approximately 92 kilometers away from Thingalur temple. After entering the temple, devotees first go to the Siddhamrita tank; it is believed that the water has curative properties for various skin ailments. There is also a myth associated with this temple that visiting this temple will remove all the obstacles that delay marriage.

Thiruvenkadu temple is one of the ancient & biggest temples which represents God Budhan, is situated just 15 kms away from Vaitheeswaran Koil. Natarajar's dance here is known as Hasti Natanam. It is believed that visiting this temple gives all Sastra Gnanam and makes person wisdom & intellect.

Alangudi temple is regarded as a Guru sthalam or Jupiter where Lord Dakshinamurthy is held in great reverence. Lord Jupiter is a sign of prosperity and arts. This temple is 90 kms away from Thiruvenkadu temple and 32 kms away from Suriyanarkoil temple.

Kanchanur temple represents Planet Venus. Bhramma is said to have been blessed with a vision of Shiva's marriage with Parvati here. Men visit to pray for their marriage, Sowbhagyam and child issues.

Thirunallar temple is the only temple dedicated to Shani Bhagwan. This temple was worshipped by the legendary King Nala, was relieved of his obstacles due to the malefic influence of Saturn, after worship in this temple. Before entering to this temple one must take bath in pushkarini, which is located right in front of the temple and leave away the old cloths forever after bathing. It is believed that bathing here washes off all the obstacles and misfortune of a person. There is a strong myth related to this temple that one must not look back to God after praying during darshanam.

Thirunageswaram temple is a huge temple known for the shrine to Lord Rahu, one of the nine celestial bodies in the Navagraha. Tirunageswaram is considered to be the 29th temple in the series in the Chola kingdom located south of the river Kaveri. This temple is located 33 kms away from the Shani temple and just 5 kms away from Suriya Temple. This temple occupies an area of 15 acres and it has vast prakarams, towering gopurams, and several mandapams. People visit this temple to seek blessings of GOD to get rid of Nagadosam, Nagahatyam, etc.

Keezha Perumpallam is very ancient temple worshipping Lord Ketu. Rahu and Kethu are associated with the legend of the serpent that helped Lord Shiva churn the milky ocean. There is a shrine dedicated to Kethu in this temple. Devotees visit this temple to be blessed for free from illness & diseases, poverty & peedai.

All the nine navagrahas have their own preferances of colour, grains, flowers, day of worship and gemstone. The following list will guide you to know the details.
