Badminton Tournament among Employees at Radisson HITEC City

We at Radisson HITEC City Hyderabad arranged for a Badminton Tournament for our employees in basement of our hotel. We scheduled the league matches through 'chit picking' process so that the players with their opponents would be aware and ready for the matches. The tournament started on 16th May and continued till 22nd May' 2015.
It was a fun tournament, where employees took out their time to play the matches with full energy and self confident, although we had several obstacles in terms of infrastructure.
However, the employees enjoyed a lot....

APG Shimla Trainees....They are Heroes

Like other hotels, we also had many Industrial Trainees in our Organization, out of all there were four trainees from APG Shimla University, Shimla, whose names are Harsh, Abhishek, Sunil, and Neeraj.
They proved themselves as the Best trainees of the season while at work. Their performances were commendable.
Every department they were assigned to carry on the tasks, they left very good impression with their dignity and hard work.
I have never encountered any complaint against them by the departmental supervisors.
I witnessed certain splendid guest services by some of them, like actively interacting with the guests in Bar, taking eggs to order from the guests during breakfast operation being in live kitchen and serving the same to the guests at the table itself. There are many more to mention.
Our management is very happy to have such dedicated emerging talents. Kudos to them for their career ahead.

You guys rock !!!! We will surely miss you all.

'Piku' Movie Review

Very recently there was a Hindi Movie released in theater named PIKU, which is a hit movie of 2015. I would say after a long time I have enjoyed a movie (i.e. piku), realistic with instant comedy scenes.
It is typically pictured on a Bengali family with orthodox head in the family. Loved the acting of Amitabh Bacchan and Deepika Padukone, so spontaneous and flawless. Loved to see that Amitabh speaking in Bengali language  during certain conversations, actually that added the authenticity if the character which he played in the film. It would be unfair if I don't mention about Irrfan Khan, who was also spontaneous with Amitabh and Deepika. Overall a very good casting with very much successful outcome.
Being a Bengali, I felt the movie script is original, you will certainly find such characters in some Bengali family.
I would rate the movie 10 Star out of 10 Star.

"Ducks Quack, Eagles Soar"......an inspirational story to read

This story which I am sharing with you all today, is actually taken from one of my senior colleague, with whom I worked for many years in my earlier service days. When I was reading his story, I was overwhelmed and loved it to the fullest and I have immediately decided to share the same with you all.

The story Titles "Ducks Quack, Eagles Soar"......................
The story goes in this way...........

I was waiting in line for a ride at the airport. When a cab pulled up, the first thing I noticed was that the taxi was polished to a bright shine. Smartly dressed in a white shirt, black tie and freshly pressed black slacks, the cab driver jumped out and rounded the car to open the back passenger door for me.
He handed me a laminated card and said, "I am Wasu, your driver. While I am loading your bags in the car, I would like you to read my mission statement."
"To get my customers to their destination in the quickest, safest and cheapest way possible in a friendly environment".

Taken aback, I read the card. It said: Wasu's Mission Statement:

To get my customers to their destination in the quickest, safest and cheapest way possible in a friendly environment.

This blew me away, especially when I noticed that the inside of the cab matched the outside. Spotlessly clean!

As he slid behind the wheel, Wasu said, "Would you like a cup of Coffee? I have a thermos of regular and one of decaf."
I said jokingly, "No, I'd prefer a soft drink."
Wasu smiled and said, "No Problem. I have a coller up front with regular and Diet Coke, Lassi, Water and Orange Juice."

Almost stuttering, I said, "I'll take the lassi."
Handling me my drink, Wasu said, "If you'd like something to read, I have The Hindu, The Times of India, ET and India Today."
As they were pulling away, Wasu handed me another laminated card, "These are the stations I get and the music they play, if you'd like to listen to the radio."
And as if that weren't enough, Wasu told me that he had the air conditioning on and asked if the temperature was comfortable for him.
Then he advised me of the best route to my destination for that time of the day. He also let me know he'd be happy to chat and tell me about some of the sights or, if I preferred, to leave me with my own thoughts.
"Tell me wasu", I was amazed and asked him, "have you always served customers like this?"
Wasu smiled into the rear view mirror "No, not always. In fact it's only been in the last two years. My first five years driving, I spent most of my time complaining like all the rest of the cabbies do. Then I heard about the power of choice one day".
'Power of choice is that you can be a Duck or an Eagle.'
'If you get up in the morning expecting to have a bad day, you'll rarely disappoint yourself. Stop complaining!'
'Don't be a duck. Be an eagle. Ducks quack and complain. Eagles soar above the crowd. That hits me right', said Wasu.
'It is about me. I was always quacking and complaining, so I decided to change my attitude and become an eagle. I looked around at the other cabs and their drivers. The cabs were dirty, the drivers were unfriendly, and the customers were unhappy. So I decided to make some changes. I put in a few at a time. When my customers responded well, I did more'.
"I take it that has paid off for you," I said.
'It sure has', Wasu replied, "My first year as an Eagle, I doubled my income from the previous year. This year I'll probably quadruple it. My customers call me for appointments on my cell phone or leave a message on it."

Wasu made a different choice. He decided to stop quacking like ducks and start soaring like eagles.

Farewell of Asst. Mgr - HR @ Radisson HITEC City

It is not saying good bye forever, rather see you soon, may be somewhere as our industry is very small but wide. On 6th May 2015, we gave farewell to our beloved colleague Mr. Kola Ramu, who served as Asst. Manager- Human Resource in Radisson HITEC City for more than a year.
There were many employees who are attached to Mr. Ramu for his remarkable behavior and positive attitude towards work, expressed their feedbacks on Mr. Ramu in form of farewell speech.
In my view, I have lost a good colleague cum friend who will always be ready for help in any circumstances, who never says 'NO' to me, and who never forgets to 'SMILE' at anyone. Those are his unique characteristics, which he has got by-default and that makes him more popular among his colleagues.
We will surely miss him at Radisson HITEC City, however we wish him all the best for his future life ahead.
