It was 26 January 2022, the 73rd Republic Day of India. It is our pride being India, we take this pride to celebrate with our team in traditional style and ritual.

We at InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort, organized the Republic Day Parade with Flag Hoisting by the General Manager in front of our team members and guests in house.

A Great On-boarding session at ICCMR !!

Recently we have welcomed our newly joined team members through series of onboarding activities, one of them was undergoing the Orientation Program, which has been an integral part of any talent's journey.

Being a Talent Development Specialist, I have always realized that tapping on talent's skills, abilities and motivating them to focus on dream big in terms of making them feel to be with a reputed brand which grows it's talent within remains highly effective.

It was an onboarding session of three days with series of training and fun-filled activities the new joinees had undergone.

Here are few sneak-peak moments...

A Great Moment with Mr. Vinay Jaswal !!

I had an wonderful day early this week meeting one of the great leader in our country, Mr. Vinay Jaswal, Regional Director, Human Resources, IHG. Recently he had been in Chennai Region for IHG hotel's visit and I was humbled and inspired to have interacted with him. With his three decade's of expertise and vast knowledge about the industry he influences the followers like me very softly.

His recent visit to InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort was for his first time. He loved the resort.

We had a great time seized to have leadership advises from him. Here are few glimpses captured in my camera...

Colleague's Farewell at ICCMR

It is not even 3 months I am with the ICCMR when I have to bid farewell to one of my dearest colleague Suresh T.K, the Asst. IT Manager. The great part of him is he is moving to a bigger role and near to his hometown Kochi.

He had been an wonderful person with always ready to help attitude; a happy go luck mode is always found in him.

We bid his farewell on 25-March here at ICCMR by the leadership team with a quick get together and cake cutting ceremony.

A New Journey Begins.....

It was almost one and half years I missed out to be with my favorite hospitality industry, as I could remember the days when I was contacted over a zoon call by the so called my own HR team an was informed that I was to be furloughed. It was an unexpected moment; a moment which should not come to anyone's life. I had to accept it by thinking it was as God's Plan.

Time moved on, I also moved on with my new assignment further in Hyderabad, joined with a facility management company heading HR and Training, but realized later that I am not the right fit for the company, as I can not tolerate the unethical practices.

Eventually my job search was on and I landed up in Chennai again after almost 4 years. I have just taken up an assignment in InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort as Learning & Quality Manager, last year in December.

It is a great Resort by the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and the only Luxury resort managed by the brand in India.

A Life Lesson to Learn

In our daily life we come across many incidents which teaches us lessons at times. I have witnessed such tidy incidents since my school days; some of them happened to me as well.

Today I am going share a very short story, which most of you will resonate with your past lives or school days. My today's story is all about 'not to bother anyone while in progress'.

And it goes.....

During a prank moment in school, a student stuck a paper on his classmate's back that said "I’m stupid"; he asked the rest of the class not to tell him. Thus the students began laughing throughout the day...

Shortly after sometime, math class started & their professor wrote a difficult question on the board.

No one was able to answer it except that student. Amid the slight laughs, for he didn’t know why, he walked towards the board & he solved it, the teacher asked the class to clap & remove the paper on his back.

He told him “It seems that you don’t know about the paper on your back that one of your classmates put & the rest of them kept it a secret”.

Then he faced towards the rest of the class & just smiled.

The boy's smile at that situation taught two lessons:

Number One: Throughout your life, people will put labels on your back with many bad things written on it to stop your progress.

All you have to do is ignore it. Ignore the labels people give you and use every chance you have to progress, learn & improve yourself.”

If the boy had known about the paper, he would not have answered.

Number Two: It’s clear that the boy does not have any loyal friends among his school friends to tell him about removing the paper.

It does not matter how many friends you have, it is the Loyalty between you and your friends that matter.

Be it a personal life or professional life, when you strive for progress in life, do not bother about anything which is coming on your way, instead focus on your goal and achieve the result.

There will be obstacles, obligations, scarcity, fear and even threats, but you have to move on in life.

Srisailam - An amazing place to visit

Srisailam, one of the religious place in South India, where Lord Shiva is the Deity God in famous Srisailam Temple. The place is situated in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

It was believed that when Goddess Parvati asked Lord Shiva about his most desired place apart from Kailasa in the Universe created by him, he chose the eternally beautiful place nestled among picturesque nature, the avatar of Sri Chakra, the holy Srisailam.

As depicted in Puranas, Srisailam has great ancient significance. Among the 12 Jyotirlingas, the 2nd is the Mallikarjuna Swamy Lingam; among the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas, the 6th is Sri Bhramaramba Devi temple. Srisailam is the only temple where two such icons exist under one temple premise.

The road distance from Hyderabad to Srisailam is 210 kilometers and it takes approximately 4 hours.

I had an amazing visit to this Holi place early of December month, started in the early morning from Hyderabad and reached Srisailam within the estimated time. Road was smooth, clean and beautiful to drive.

We had booked the darshan-ticket in advance, which was the norm to follow indeed. However, deity darshan was simply amazing and mind filling.

The travel to Srisailam was amazing with nature wrapped with its beauty.
