Ugadi is the new year's day celebrated in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka region. In Sankrit, UGADI (YUGADI) meaning was derived as..... YUGA means AGE and ADI means BEGINING, hence UGADI means "A New Age Begining".
This is celebrated as festival of new era. It is also celebrated in Tulu, Marathi and Konkani in different form. Ugadi specializes with having six tastes, such as bitter (Neem Buds), Sweet (Jaggery), Spicy (Pepper), Saltiness, Sourness (Tamarind Juice), and Tanginess (Raw Mango).
These six tastes signifies six aspects of life which must be accepted together as and when it comes in our life.
** Bitter signifies SADNESS
** Sweet signifies HAPPINESS
** Spicyness signifies ANGER
** Saltiness signifies FEAR
** Sourness signifies DISGUST
** Tanginess signifies SURPRISE
