It is the story of Mahashian Di Hatti (MDH) !
His father’s business was grinding and selling spices. His father gave him some money and this young man decided to buy a Tonga to support his family. He sold his tonga and bought a small space to start a business in his own domain of spices, in Karol Bagh.
He named it Mahashian Di Hatti.
He kept selling and the word kept spreading around Delhi, and in 1953, he rented the second shop in Chandni Chawk.
