Just before the dark cloud (COVID Pandemic) hoovered on all of us, we had a scheduled monthly catch-up with our industrial trainees in March' 2020.
The agenda was to discuss about their learnings, comfort at work, any ideas if they wish to share with us and few learning topics..
It was indeed fun with important serious talk. While in the discussion, we had to also make them aware of the COVID situation and had to initiate them to proceed for leave as precautions. It was later appreciated by their respective placement authorities, and there after they requested other hotel training heads to also initiate the same. And, eventually the interns started leaving to home on 15th March 2020. The rest is history as you know.
No !!!! Their career was not hampered.
They have done extremely well during their internship; we, the management was very happy for it, so they will have their valid certificates post the normalization of situation.
But, here fact is, we miss those talents, their spirit at work. I am very proud to say that year after year the quality of hotel school students is improving. We are getting good talents, who are exploring all possible opportunities to learn the technical skills. They have the hunger to grow and the agility to learn. Simply loved it.
After all, they are the future of hotel industry.
