Non-Stop working.......Tired and Painful

While taking interview to candidates we do ask frequently, "Can you work beyond 12 hours?" and the reply comes from the candidates as "Yes, Sir, I can work more than 12 hours a day", added to that some candidates over express themselves, "In fact in my previous job I used to work 14 - 15 hours a day".

True.... they work more than the prescribed hours...but not all the time. Only when the situation demands, they work more, moreover it is his/her capacity that he/she can work for long hours at a stretch....

I have been doing the same for quiet a long time. It is approximately 25 non-stop days I have been reporting at work at 8:30 am and timing out at 2:00 am early morning.......

You can think that a Manager should work like this, after all he is a manager... true..

But it is the extra work what i was assigned to do.

The fact is our Food and Beverage Manager has gone for quiet a long leave on last month and to take care of his  responsibilities our General Manager assigned me, hence it became my additional responsibility to carry out the job of F&B Manager. But yes it is wonderful experience to have daily banquet functions and out door caterings (ODC) in between.

F&B Operations continue till it's closing, it means till at least 12:00am and after that being MOD (Manager on Duty) that is Duty Manager, need to stay till 2:00 am early morning.

Its non-stop working for me........Very much tired and Painful......But at the end of the day I got Satisfaction...

Campusing at BEL Institute of Hotel Management, Shivakashi

Recently I had been to Shivakasi for a Campus recruitment at BEL Institute of Hotel Management. That was the first time I was in Shivakasi. 

Shivakasi is a small town situated approximately 60 kms away from MADURAI (The Temple City of Tamil Nadu).

Shivakasi is a popular industrial area and is popular for the "Fire Works". The main fire works production area is Shivakasi, from where it is delivered to all over India as well as World.

Shivakasi is also popular for making Calenders. The maximum volume of Calenders are made in this place and distributed to all over India. 

Shivakasi also attracts tourists for the beautiful ancient temples situated around the city. We visited some of the temple during our spare time and experienced the temple tradition of South India. Its wonderful, amazing.

BEL Institute is just four years old, it is one of the best institute in Shivakasi city. BEL Institute offers 3 years BHM Degree course as well as one and half year Craft courses on F&B Production and F&B Service.

It has all modern equipments and Laboratories which are very much necessary to run a Hotel Management College. I found the Institute excellent in the cleanliness, hygiene and well-structured. The students have good attitude and grooming although the language problem plays a biggest factor.
The owner of BELL Institute has a hotel also in Shivakasi, the hotel has 42 well equipped rooms similar to star hotels.

Managerial Excellence Program at Rennaaissancce Sarovar portico, Hosur

As a part of Corporate Training Program for the Managers in Sarovar Group of Hotels, this year we had "Managerial Excellence Program" from 15^th to 17^th February 2011 at our Hotel Rennaaissancce Sarovar portico, Hosur.

The Resource Person for this program was Mr. Prem Kumar, who is the Corporate Training Manager, Sarovar Group of Hotels.

All the three days of program was fruitful and live through the presentations and various interesting physical activities. The focus was mainly on the Managerial Skills development.

A small story on "PERSONAL PERCEPTION"

Different people have different perception.

One person's best food could be another person's poison.

A couple bought a donkey from the market. On the way home, a boy commented, "Very stupid. Why neither of them ride on the donkey?"

Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on the donkey. He walked besides them. Later, an old man saw it and commented, "The husband is the head of family. How can the wife ride on the donkey while the husband is on foot?"

Hearing this, the wife quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey.

Further on the way home, they met an old Lady. She commented, "How can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman."
The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey.

Then, they met a young man. He commented, "Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you."

Hearing that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders.

It seems to be there is no other choice left.

Few minutes later, on a narrow bridge, the donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell into the river.

Moral of the story:

You can never have everyone praise you, nor will everyone condemn you. Never in the past, not at present, and never will be in the future.

Thus, do not be too bothered by others words if our conscience is clear.

Farewell of Mr. Arundeep Sachadeva...

Mr Arundeep Sachadeva was General Manager of our hotel Rennaaissancce Sarovar Portico, Hosur for two years. He got transferred recently to Shiliguri Sarovar Premiere Hotel. He worked in Taj Group of Hotels earlier during his early stages of career.

On 05th February, 2011 we gave farewell to Mr. Arundeep. Here are few snaps taken during his farewell.

A story of Abraham Lincoln:

On the first day as President Abraham Lincoln entered to give his inaugural speech, just in the middle, one man stood up. He was a rich aristocrat. He said, “Mr. Lincoln, you should not forget that your father used to make shoes for my family”. The whole senate laughed; they thought they had made fool to Abraham Lincoln.

But Lincoln made all the people surprised and stunt by his reply to that aristocrat. Lincoln said, “Sir I know that my father used to make shoes in your house for your family and there will be many others here. Because the way he made the shoes, nobody else can make. He was a creator. His shoes were not just the shoes; he poured his soul in it. I want to ask you, have you any complaint? Because I know how to make shoes myself, if you have any complaint, then I can make another pair of shoes for you. But as far as I know nobody has ever complaint about my father’s shoes. He was a Genius, a great Creator, I am proud of my father.”

The whole senate was stuck dumb. They could not understand what type of person Abraham Lincoln was. He had made shoe making an art, a creativity. And he was proud of his father because is father did the job so well that not even a single complaint had been heard.

It does not matter what you do. What matters is how you do it – of our own accord, with our own Vision, with your own love and affection. Then whatever you touch becomes gold.

A Beautiful Story on Changing Vision...............

Once a millionaire was suffering from severe eye pain, he consulted so many physicians and getting his treatment done. His eye pain was so severe that he had to take heavy loads of drugs and injection everyday. But the ache persisted with great vigor.

When no physicians was able cure his eye pain, at last one Monk was called for his treatment. The monk was expert in treating such type of disease. The Monk analyzed the problem of the millionaire and said that for some time he should concentrate on only green colours and not to look at any other colours.

The millionaire hired a group of painter and purchased barrels of green colour paint. The painters were ordered to paint every object with green colour in the area of vision wherever the millionaire would look at.

When the monk came to visit the millionaire to see the progress on his treatment, the servant ran immediately towards the monk with a bucket of green paint and poured over him since the monk was in red dress which may cause his master’s eye pain again. The monk laughed and said “If you had purchased a pair of green spectacles worth just few rupees, you could have saved all these walls, trees, pots, furniture and all other articles and also could save a large share of his fortune. You can not paint the world green”.
